Why name our services?

You may have noticed we have new names for our services. But why name our services?

During one of our Nexus town hall meetings, one member asked "What was the reasoning behind giving the service the name Nexus?" That sparked a conversation during our staff lead team meetings about how we identify our 9:30 and 10:45 services in the Worship Center as well.

Often, when our services are talked about, a lot of the conversation is around the style of the service. But really, our service is about much more than style or musical style. Each service is an expression of worship to the Lord of all. We realized we were doing a disservice to these important expressions of worship by referring to the services by their style: "9:30 Contemporary Service" and "10:45 Blended or Traditional Service".

While style can be a descriptor of the expression of worship, we knew the name of the service needed to be a better identifier of our response to Jesus getting back up after dying on the cross!

Celebration! at 9:30am in the Worship Center is a worship expression containing both contemporary and traditional elements, with a focus on the contemporary.

Cornerstone at 10:45am in the Worship Center is a worship expression honoring Jesus through traditional music & hymn.

Nexus at 10:45am in the Gym is a modern expression of worship geared toward the next generation and those unfamiliar with church.

We believe that these names will more accurately portray the life change happening at Gayton, and will act as a foundation for moving forward as a church and in our daily worship of Jesus.
